An Encounter with the Human Soul

For more than two decades, Nic Askew has filmed people at the edge where performance ends and truth begins.

On Thursday, July 16, he brings this live experience to The Portal for an intimate three-hour evening of film, story, stillness, and direct encounter.

Through live projected filming, unseen moments from the acclaimed Soul Biographies series, spoken word, stillness, and audience participation, the room slowly becomes part of the encounter itself.

During the evening, some participants will step before the camera live. As each person drops beneath the surface, something begins to happen to everyone watching.

This is not a talk. Not a workshop. But a rare opportunity to step beyond the noise and encounter what remains when nothing is left to perform.

Live Witnessing:

Each participant is filmed in stillness. The encounter is projected live and witnessed collectively. In that space and time, something often shifts. What is spoken arises from a different origin point. This is where the inner true voice is heard — often for the first time, without rehearsal or performance. It is not manufactured. It emerges. And once witnessed — by you and by others — the question naturally arises: What is now possible from here?
